Overview

Project 100+ is a storytelling and language documentation initiative under VANI, focused on collecting one hundred or more stories from endangered and underrepresented language communities across India. Each story, ranging between 500 and 1000 words, is recorded or written in the community’s own language and accompanied by an English translation.

The project’s goal is to create a rich, bilingual database that captures not just words but worlds — the cultural, ecological, and emotional landscapes that define each community. Through folktales, myths, personal memories, and lived experiences, we aim to reflect the unique rhythm, humour, and worldview of every language.

Beyond preservation, Project 100+ is about representation. It ensures that Indigenous voices and perspectives are part of India’s growing digital and literary archive. The stories collected will serve as a valuable resource for researchers, educators, and community members, while also inspiring creative and technological tools that honour linguistic and cultural diversity.
